Relevant facts:

During this period, Dzibanché was a fundamental political center in southern Quintana Roo , and the lords of Kaanu'l maintained alliances, wars and power ceremonies documented in hieroglyphic inscriptions.
-
Some of its rulers participated in the enthronement of kings in other Mayan cities , extending their influence.
-
The site even competed with major powers such as Calakmul, and a dynastic split in 635 AD marked the relocation of some of the nobility to that site, although Dzibanché remained active and ruled by another branch of the Kaanu'l dynasty.
